Compeed Cold Sore Patch

 

The brief

  • Having developed a revolutionary and effective cold sore treatment, Compeed wanted a fast roll-out of the product across Europe.

  • A TV and press campaign was developed to raise awareness, but marketers recognised that both consumers and pharmacists (who would retail the product) also needed an understanding about cold sores and how the new treatment worked. A decision was therefore made to build a website and roll it out across 13 different countries.

  • Classed as a medical device, individual attention to healthcare and regulatory compliance in each country was essential.


The exectution

  • Content Formula worked closely with the client and their IT department to develop a strategy and a process to build a web site that catered for both consumers and pharmacists, and that could be rolled out across Europe quickly and easily.

  • Content Formula designed a master site in English containing general consumer materials and an e-learning module for pharmacists.

  • Materials were presented to and signed off by marketing, regulatory affairs and the legal department on a European level.

  • Once approved, Content Formula translated the content and worked with local marketing, regulatory affairs and lawyers in each country to adapt it for their market.


The result

  • A turn-key solution was delivered and rolled across Europe in record time.

  • The product became market leader in each market within 2-3 months of launch and won several industry awards for innovation and marketing.

  • The Compeed website ranks on the first page of natural search results against cold sore keywords on major search engines in each country.

  • All sites passed a 60-point audit by the global website compliance department prior to launch.
