EMEA Zone - Major Medical Devices Company Intranet

 

The brief

  • Keen to improve internal communications across their European operating companies, the EMEA communications director of a major US medical devices company approached Content Formula for help.

  • The intranet was to target a broad and diverse audience of approximately 5000 employees spread across more than 30 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

  • The key business objective of the intranet was to support a major re-organisation with the aim of centralising the dispersed companies into EMEA business units and rationalising a complex organizational structure.

  • The client wanted both support for the build and a solution for the ongoing support of the intranet.


The exectution

  • Content Formula was invited into the intranet team to advise on the strategy, planning and execution of the project. Once the plan was developed and documented, Content Formula recommended a portal and content management solution that integrated well with existing IT infrastructure. Once in place, the site build began.

  • Content Formula liaised with all key departmental and operating company staff to understand their business needs and pull together content. In areas where content was not available, Content Formula wrote suitable copy based on research and interviews with stakeholders.

  • Graphics, video and flash content was developed as well as various email newsletter templates.

  • Leveraging existing infrastructure, key applications and tools such as the staff directory were built into the site.

  • Now the site is launched, Content Formula manage the site on a daily basis. This includes content planning including interviews and research, writing content, publishing, newsletters, video and flash work, administration and troubleshooting all for a fixed monthly fee.


The result

  • The intranet site launched and quickly grew in influence, now attracting a steady and healthy daily visitor count helping senior management communicate key announcements regarding the re-organisation.

  • The intranet has provided a single forum for all staff with Content Formula’s active support model making it easy and painless for staff to contribute content to the site. Typical content includes internal and external news, announcements, best practices, success models and leadership articles.

  • Content Formula’s pro-active approach to site management means that the site looks professional with consistent look and feel, daily content updates and administrative and support tasks performed promptly.
