An interactive product demo for nurses and caregivers

Product Animation

Objective and brief

  • We were asked to create a tool for demonstrating an advanced hospital wound dressing for one of our medical devices clients.
  • The demo should act both as a sales aid and as a training tool for nurses. It should show how to apply the dressing properly, how the dressing effectively treats the wound, and how the dressing is removed once it has done its job.

How objectives were met

  • We attended a live demo of how the dressing is applied and removed, gaining insight into exactly how the product works.
  • We designed the core elements of the animation, including background colours, buttons and product images in order to set the tone of the piece.
  • We then created a graphic storyboard of the animation: a series of still images that show the main stages of the animation with the accompanying text.
  • Once signed off, our designers set about animating the frames into a full movie.

Key challenges

  • The dressing uses complex and advanced technology and acts on the wound in a very specific way -  we had to make sure the animation was accurate and detailed.
  • Liaising with medical and R&D personnel alongside the marketing department was key to delivering a properly constructed demo tool.

Results

  • The animation helps promote correct usage of the product. It communicates much more effectively than written copy how the product works.
  • The product demo was rolled out to sales teams and medical customers to ensure the product was used correctly.
